What’s your comment?

June 25, 2012 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Commenting is what makes blogging exciting, it turns a post into a discussion.  If you read something on a blog and you like it, hate it, agree or disagree you should comment. As a blogger is it great to get feedback about your post and even better to be able to start a meaningful discussion. I don’t know is Gary Ablett Jr as good as Gary Ablett Snr? Commenting on blogs also gets your blog known as you can post links back to your blog. Go on – get posting and get commenting.

Here are some cute 4th graders giving some hot tips about commenting.

You want to make your blog interesting and you want to be interesting to others, so today we are looking at how we can make fabulously interesting posts.

What are some things that you think would make an interesting post?

I have been looking around at other kids blogs and I have found lots of posts that are interesting and engaging.

OR go to the edublog 2012 student challange and have a look at what others are doing?

When you are on the site read the posts and try to come up with a list of things that posts should have to make them interesting and engaging.

Here are some of the things I think make a good post a great post:

1.  Proper spelling, punctuation and grammar are must haves.

2. Pictures or some sort of image help explain your ideas to your readers and adds interest to your post.

3.  Say something in your post.  Get people talking and thinking.  Maybe ask a question.

4.  Have a topic and stick with it.  Your topic should not be too big.  Narrow your topic.

What are you going to post about today?

Maintaining your own blog and commenting on your classmates’ blogs is a privledge that the grade 5/6 teachers believe your are ready for.

However with great power comes great responsibility. To ensure that your blog is kept friendly, safe and contains quality content  it is important to develop a set of guidelines that you and other bloggers can follow.

Working in groups of 3 come up with your own set of guidelines for your blog.  We will be using your ideas to develope a whole class set of guidelines that we will all agree to.

Below are some bloggs that will help your group get started. You could also use your own knowledge and of course google…

Good luck!
